Lucy was inspired by an Onondagan poem to write this piece and create the beautiful illustration...

The sun rays pierce the clouds light feeding plants, plants feeding animals natures love, energy, and relationships. As humans, we are given a sacred trust. We have the privilege to take care of the plants and animals. Some humans violate this trust and others worship this trust. As humans we also have a voice. We can give our voice to the animals and plants. We need to protect our mother earth. She gave us life, food, warmth, protection, and beauty. Pollution, industry, and colonization scarred her skin, broke her bones, and left her sad. Animals suffer and die from humans carelessness, but its not too late to heal our mother. She is strong and so is our voice, our actions, and our intentions. Awareness and empathy can treat those wounds. Its up to us to spread the word and nurse her back to health.

We have removed invasive species introduced by colonization, taken the time to learn sad truths about plastics, dingos, koalas, and other human-caused problems.

We have supported good people with good intentions by buying local products and staying at family-owned camps and hostels.

We all must take this knowledge and intention back to the Americas and France to fulfill our duties. We must use our privilege to educate, speak up, and love the land we are on.

We can use our actions to save lives, inspire hope, and plant seeds in peoples heads. those seeds will sprout and grow and grow until they are strong like eucalyptus trees.
