Hi! Hello!

My name is Amelia and I’m so excited to be your instructor for this upcoming semester in Central America! I look forward to getting to know each of you throughout the program, so here’s a little bit for you to get to know me:
I grew up playing around on the beautiful rocks and mountains in Boulder, CO, USA, which sits right on the front range of the Rocky Mountains.  I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and during my sophomore year I took a gap semester in Southeast Asia as a student with Pacific Discovery.  My experience during that trip ignited a passion for travel and adventure, and inspired me to pursue my love for all things mountains across the world. Backpacking, rock climbing, and mountaineering are the things I love most, and I have spent the past couple of years exploring the world with these passions. From climbing glaciated Andean peaks, to backpacking in the Canadian Rockies, to climbing rocky gorges in Morocco, I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to explore and adventure in new places and new cultures.

My advice to you when you’re preparing for your upcoming adventure: don’t pack too many clothes! You’ll likely pick lots of clothing up along the way. I’d also like to recommend keeping a journal throughout the program, so you’ll be able to look back on all of your experiences later on.

I can’t wait to meet you all! See you in Mexico :)
