Instructor intro: Chris Briggs
Hi, I'm Chris., a tanned, 5 “11, crunchy-peanut-butter-devouring lad, currently living below the Bass Strait (Tasmania).
I originally grew up aboard a yacht and skipped pre-primary for the beautiful waters and island life of Hinchinbrook. My parents exposed and planted within me a deep love for the outdoors at an early age. After eventually heading back to mainland life in Western Australia; surfing, sea kayaking and basically anything ocean-based were all on my doorstep.
I worked as a tradesman for a number of years before buying a one-way ticket abroad, which saw me backpacking for the next 2 years through Asia and Europe, eventually falling into the guiding career by chance in northern Finland. I spent the next 7 months Husky Sledding through the Finnish winter in a town called Hetta. If you ask me, I call it “my shiniest life gem unearthed from traveling”.
The next 5 years all revolved around Guiding, Instructing and furthering my education in the outdoors. I completed my certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation. I've been fortunate enough to have delivered a broad range of adventure programs and experiences canyoning, sea kayaking and rafting, to name a few.
My inspiration comes from the magnificence of the natural world and I'm passionate about using outdoor programs as a means of self-discovery for all. I understand the immense personal growth that can arise from participating in challenging activities and stepping out of one’s comfort zone. I endeavour to provide all my students with these positive opportunities. I'm looking forward to meeting you all very soon!
