As the SEA Spring 2020 group has settled into the culture and constant movement of Thailand, we found ourselves quickly getting to know each other while we were surprised with Thai massages.

This journey began in Bangkok and soon moved to Sukhothai for a few days of orientation at Lotus Village. With the delicious meals prepared by our hosts, our stomachs were full as we began to fully immerse ourselves in the 70 days ahead.

In Sukhothai, we explored the Historic Park by bicycle and even enjoyed a familiar meal of pizza. Then, we were off to Chiang Mai where we spent a day climbing and rappelling, followed by two nights of exploring the night markets that the city had to offer. We also camped at a sustainable farm where we made papaya salad and our kind hosts made us Thai food from the garden.

Next, we were off to the Elephant Nature Park where we were surrounded by elephants, cats, dogs, and water Buffalo for five days. My favorite project that our group did was building a dam on the last day because we were able to spend the sunny afternoon in the river.

Until next time,

Dusey
