Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea is the most culturally diverse country on earth and has incredible wilderness, impressive biodiversity and dramatic landscapes - from jagged limestone mountains to beautiful tropical beaches - a diversity that makes for an incredible adventure travel experience. Papua New Guinea should receive more travellers than it does. The country is unfairly maligned in the media as being a dangerous country to travel in - we've found this to be an exaggeration. On the upside, the lack of visitors makes travel to Papua New Guinea feel intrepid.

Papua New Guinea has a fascinating history with human habitation dating back 50,000 years. Agriculture was developed independently in the highlands around 9,000 years ago, making it one of the few places in the world where plants were domesticated. Today, Papua New Guinea has a population of 6 million speaking over 800 languages. And for its incredible biodiversity, it has been highlighted as one of 17 mega-diverse countries in the world by the United Nations Environment Program.
