Employment

Fantastic leaders are central to Pacific Discovery’s success.

A Pacific Discovery leader is solely responsible for a group of up to 14 participants. This is a 24/7 role for the duration of the program or tour. There is no scheduled 'time off'.

The role encompasses participant safety and welfare, travel logistics, budgeting and payments, relationship building with in-country operators, the facilitation of experiential education elements, group dynamics, risk management/safety assessment and extensive interpretation of the countries visited including their environments and cultures.

A Pacific Discovery leader is contracted to lead the group for the duration of the program/tour. During this time, your main focus is ensuring the program/tour runs smoothly and that the participants have an amazing experience.

Pacific Discovery Program leaders are team players, role models and creative facilitators who thrive in an experiential education setting, who are capable of working hard under new and sometimes difficult conditions, and who have an understanding of the value of assisting participants to learn and grow.

A Pacific Discovery leader is responsible for facilitating an amazing life-changing experience, taking care of all the details, and making sure everyone, individually has a fantastic time. You need to be dynamic, open-minded, attentive and calm – but above all friendly, fun and approachable. Decision-making skills and listening to our participants needs are also paramount.

A Pacific Discovery leader is confident in a single teaching tool: themselves! It is the power of their personalities, enthusiasm, and love of sharing adventure and exploration which has an immeasurable impact on our participants. As role models, they cultivate in participants the necessary sensitivity to the host country, and respect for oneself and others which results in a successful trip.

Being a Pacific Discovery leader is a huge responsibility. At times it can be demanding and exhausting…but is ultimately incredibly rewarding.
